With the admission season round the corner, students are all geared up to prepare for their interviews and zero in on the institute of their choice. The mushrooming of a multitude of business schools in India has made it increasingly difficult for students to decide on their future “alma mater”. Exacerbating the situation is the scarcity of authentic information on topics like admission process, placements of the students etc. In order to help aspiring students, Shiksha.com- an online portal that connects education seekers with education providers and is part of Infoedge India Ltd initiated a counselling session for business school aspirants with campuses on Whatsapp. The session witnessed business school aspirants asking current students about the variety of topics such as life on campus, specializations offered, group discussions, interview tips and so on.
Commenting on the initiative, Prakash Sangam, Business Head, Shiksha.com said, “Through the Shiksha Campus Rep program we are striving to help students make an educated decision about their choice of campus. The direct rendezvous with students ensures that information communicated is authentic and lacks bias. Since mobile internet is growing by leaps and bounds in India especially in tier2 and 3 cities, Whatsapp has ensured that we are able to reach out to students beyond the vicinity of tier 1 towns and engage with them directly. We will continue to innovate with our Campus Rep Program to ensure that we are able to touch base with a maximum number of students”.
So far Shiksha Campus Reps from business schools like JBIMS, Wellingkar Institute of Management and KJ Somaniya Institute of Management studies and IIMs like Ranchi, Udaipur and Kashipur have participated in the sessions and have answered a slew of questions from the students seeking admission to these colleges.
Talking about the experience, Siddharth, a Welingkar aspirant said, “I am 24×7 shuffling between college classes and tuitions for various subjects and exams. This hectic schedule leaves me with no time to sit in front of a laptop or desktop and participate in an online discussion. Whats app chat discussion helped me to connect with the current student reps with the touch of a button on my cell phone. Since the discussion is happening on a mobile phone I was able to log in and out anytime without missing my classes and got credible and authentic information”.
Shiksha.com is constantly innovating and trying to help aspirants choose the right course and the right institute. It runs a very successful Shiksha Campus Rep program and has 246 Shiksha Campus representatives across India in leading business schools.
