Spotify is testing a new feature called “Your Offline Mix” that allows users to listen to their favorite music even without an internet connection. This feature provides a playlist of recently played songs that can be accessed when users are offline, such as during flights or in areas with no internet connectivity.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek shared a screenshot on Twitter, stating that the feature will save a mix of songs for when users have a low connection but high vibe. Although no timeline has been provided for its availability, Spotify already allows users to download playlists and albums for offline listening.
This feature not only offers convenience in preparing for offline situations but also helps users save data. It is worth noting that Spotify has been working on this feature since 2020.
In other news, Spotify recently announced job cuts that will affect 200 employees, primarily in its podcast division. These cuts are being managed in a tailored approach with support and generous severance packages provided to affected individuals.
YouTube Music already offers a similar feature called “Offline Mixtape,” which automatically downloads liked songs and frequently listened-to tracks.
