Tata Power To Push Renewable Energy
Tata Power is banking big when it comes to clean energy in India. Apart from looking for renewable energy opportunities in India, Tata is also looking for such energy option in Middle East and Africa.
The company has installed an installed generation capacity of over 8,580 MW, out of which, 1,170 MW comes from clean energy resources. Rahul Shah, chief business development, Tata powers told PTI that the company is keen enough to look for opportunities in renewable energy space in India, as well as overseas also.
Out of current renewable capacity, hydel power make up for 447 MW and wind plants for 460 MW. Tata aims to have 18,000 MW capacity by the year 2022, with 25 percent contribution coming from clean energy sources alone.
The company is also executing two wind power projects in South Africa having more than 220 MW capacity which is implemented through Cennergi (Pty) Ltd. which is a joint venture between Tata Power and Exxaro resources.
As per the latest annual report of company, it is evaluating its investment options in Africa, Turkey, Middle East, South East Asia and SAARC region. “Indian market continues to remain the primary focus of business, it has also started making investments into projects in select international geographies to diversify its portfolio,” the report added.
