Xiaomi Announces Launch Date for MIX Fold 3, Unveils Design Ahead of August 14 Event
Following a series of teasers, Xiaomi has officially confirmed the upcoming debut of the MIX Fold 3, its latest foldable smartphone model, in China on August 14th. The company has also released images showcasing the phone’s design.
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has highlighted that the phone stands as a combination of lightness and innovation, representing the brand’s advancements in various key technology areas such as structure and engineering.
In the case of the MIX Fold 2, an ingenious micro-water droplet hinge and stacking technology were employed, resulting in a remarkably slim 11.2mm profile when folded.
Lei Jun further explained that Xiaomi embarked on the creation of the MIX Fold 3 from the ground up, undertaking a comprehensive reconstruction from the original point. Through relentless efforts, Xiaomi engineers have successfully arrived at an optimal solution that integrates current technology and craftsmanship, particularly in relation to the hinge mechanism.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 takes a groundbreaking path in terms of technology by adopting an innovative hinge approach that prioritizes space efficiency, allowing the device to achieve an impressive balance between slimness and lightweight design. This achievement establishes a new industry standard for folding screens.
The teaser also affirms the presence of a leather back option in black, while a glass back variant will be available in a gold hue. Notably, the LEICA VARIO-SUMMICRON lens with an aperture range of f/1.8 to f/2.9 is showcased for both the main and periscope telephoto camera.
According to earlier speculations, the phone is rumored to feature a 3.2X portrait camera and a 5X periscope telephoto camera. Additionally, it is expected to support 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is anticipated to power the device.
