On 15th May 2023, Monday, Tamil Nadu got its first Technology Hub at Anna University Campus , inaugurated by honorable chief minister MK Stalin. The Tamil Nadu Technology Hub (iTNT) has been setup at a cost of Rs.54.61 crore by the state government with support of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and industry partnership. The inauguration took place through a video conference from the Secretariat.
This valuable hub in the field of technology touted as the India’s first emerging and Deep Tech innovation network. It is structured to promote upcoming technological changes and bring about new innovation whilst facing futuristic challenges to the State such as-:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Block Chain Technology
- Machine Learning (ML)
This hub will help the State of Tamil Nadu achieve its goal of being a part of top 10 in the world of Deep Tech, as the technology hub would initiate an ecosystem of empowering innovations , the project will work in collaboration with 570 engineering colleges , indulging with the research teams and industry partners. An aid to the emerging start-ups who are working in deep tech and its co-related areas.
The major chunk of funding for this non-profit organization has been done by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology , with figure standing at around 50% , the State government has received 37% fundings and financial assistance while the rest 13% came down from the industry partners. The non-profit organization has been setup under command of the Department of Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.
