Fitbit has introduced the Charge 6, which appears to be a more classic Fitbit device compared to previous versions, despite its integration with Google services.
It retails for $159.95, down from $179.95 for its predecessor, and includes improvements such as an enhanced heart rate tracking algorithm, compatibility with select gym equipment, and a return to physical side buttons for navigation.
Other updates are primarily software-related, including enhanced heart rate sensing accuracy, the ability to pair with certain gym machines via Bluetooth, and integration with Google Maps and Google Wallet.
Existing Fitbit users will need to migrate their data to a Google account to use the device, except for those with Fitbit Guardian accounts. The migration will be mandatory by 2025.
