Users having trouble using the popular Shutter screenshot tool for Linux owing to the many infuriating bugs and solidity issues that came along with it are in for a pleasant surprise as developers have now released a new bug fix release for the tool that aims to address some of its more important issues successfully. The new bug fix release: Shutter 0.92 is now available for download for the Linux platform and sees a number of solidity issues carefully dealt with for good.
A number of solidity issues affecting Ubuntu and Arch Linux in the previous versions of the versatile screenshot utility have been addressed in Shutter 0.92. This includes a fix to two major crashes related to image editing. In addition, plugins for three of the now defunct image hosting services (including Ubuntu One) have been removed in the new release. It can be recalled that the Shutter utility is quite popular among Linux users that gives them an open-source feature set to capture shots of their desktop, windowed apps and menus. Users can also edit, crop and add annotations, text and other visual effects to these shots via the tool.
Installation is much like the previous releases of the tool. Ubuntu 10.04, 12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS and 14.10 users can install Shutter 0.92 from the official project Stable Release PPA.
In the terminal window simplyenter the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install shutter
In addition, standalone Deb installers are also available via the projects’s official website.
