Nokia has been hinting at the launch of a new 5G smartphone in the Indian market, leading to speculations about the Nokia G42’s potential debut in the country. The company has now officially announced that it will unveil the Nokia G42 on September 11 in India, and the smartphone’s microsite is already live on Amazon.
While the Nokia G42 5G is a fresh addition to India, it has previously been launched in Europe. Following the earlier release of the Nokia X30 5G this year, the G42 will become the brand’s second 5G-enabled smartphone to hit the Indian market. Amazon’s microsite for the phone mentions that its launch is imminent.
According to the microsite, the Nokia G42 5G boasts a 6.56-inch waterdrop notch display with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also features an OZO Playback-powered loudspeaker. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel primary camera on the rear, accompanied by a macro camera and a depth sensor. Under the hood, it is powered by the Snapdragon 480 Plus chipset and offers up to 11 GB of RAM, which includes virtual RAM.
The Nokia G42 5G is officially confirmed to receive two years of Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates. It will be available in Purple and So Grey color options.
Although the Amazon page doesn’t mention it, it is already known that the Nokia G42 5G features 128 GB of internal storage and a 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W wired charging. It also includes a side-facing fingerprint scanner for security. As of now, there is no information available regarding the device’s price.
