Threads will soon allow users to edit posts, use hashtags and more

Threads, the newly launched app by Meta, has gained significant attention and popularity since its release. Within a week, the app has already surpassed 100 million downloads, making it the fastest-growing app in recent times. Despite being in its early stages, Meta plans to introduce more features to enhance the user experience.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, confirmed that upcoming additions to the Threads app include an edit button, hashtags, and a following page. The edit option will allow users to make changes to their posts, while the following feed will display content from accounts that users follow. Mosseri also mentioned that they are working on a translation option to transcribe text.

Responding to a feature request regarding the “Following” tab, Mosseri stated that they are currently focused on bug fixes and ensuring the app runs smoothly. However, they plan to build a following feed in the next few weeks. Mosseri believes that one reason for the app’s engagement is its ability to discover new accounts without needing to follow many people.

Regarding another feature request about automatically deleting posts after a certain period, Mosseri suggested considering a user choice of either 30 or 90 days. Once implemented, the Threads app will automatically delete posts after the specified duration.

Mosseri emphasized that Threads does not aim to replace Twitter. Instead, the app aims to create a public space for communities on Instagram who may not have embraced Twitter and for Twitter users interested in a more positive and less confrontational environment for conversations.

Overall, Threads is continuously evolving, and Meta is committed to enhancing its features based on user feedback and needs.
