Tinder has unveiled a new feature called “Tinder Matchmaker” that allows users to enlist the help of friends and family in selecting potential matches. This feature aims to simplify the process of seeking dating advice from trusted individuals and integrates the “friend test” into the dating app. Users can invite people, whether they have Tinder profiles or not, to view and suggest potential matches. It essentially turns dating into a team effort, where friends and family can provide input on potential matches. However, the user still has the final say in deciding whom to “Like.”
Tinder introduced this feature in response to findings from a survey that revealed over 75% of surveyed singles discuss their dating lives with friends regularly. Tinder Matchmaker allows users to gain insights into which profiles their friends and family members approve of. It recognizes that dating decisions often involve input from trusted individuals.
The feature can be initiated from a user’s profile card or within the app’s settings. Users can share a unique link with up to 15 friends for a 24-hour period. The matchmaker, whether a friend or family member, can log in to Tinder or use the feature as a guest, provided they complete age verification and agree to Tinder’s terms if they don’t have an account.
Matchmakers have 24 hours to recommend profiles, but they cannot engage in chat or send messages on behalf of the user. After the session ends, Tinder users can review the profiles their matchmakers have “Liked.” Those profiles will be marked as “recommendations.” Users maintain full control and make the final decision on whom to “Like.”
Tinder Matchmaker is available in select countries, including India, the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. It will become available to Tinder users worldwide in the coming months.
