Croma’s 2023 iPhone Unboxed report has shed light on iPhone sales and demand in various Indian cities, revealing interesting trends in consumer preferences. According to the report, Delhi has emerged as the top city for iPhone enthusiasts in 2023, surpassing all others with a staggering 182% more iPhone sales than Mumbai, which ranks second. Delhi has seen a steady rise in iPhone sales, with a 47% increase from 2020 to 2021 and a substantial 106% growth from 2021 to 2022.
Mumbai, while ranking second in iPhone purchases, experienced a significant surge in iPhone sales in 2022, with a tenfold increase. Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad follow Mumbai, with growth percentages of 198%, 221%, and 132%, respectively, from 2021 to 2022.
Additionally, the report highlights that cities like Surat, Baroda, Lucknow, Faridabad, Coimbatore, Indore, Nashik, and Vizag are also witnessing a significant uptick in iPhone sales.
The report also delves into popular iPhone colors among consumers. For iPhone 13, Starlight White was the most loved color, followed by Midnight Black, Blue, Pink, and Green. iPhone 14 was most preferred in Blue and Midnight Black, with Starlight White coming in third. iPhone 12 found favor in Blue, Midnight Black, and lastly, Starlight White. As for iPhone 11, Black was the preferred choice, followed by White.
Croma’s report also indicates that the Starlight variant of iPhone 13 was the most popular model, followed by Midnight Black and Blue color options. The 128GB storage variant was the most preferred choice across all three models.
These findings suggest a shift in consumer preferences in India towards more understated iPhone colors like Starlight White and Midnight Black, marking a departure from previous years when more colorful options like Product Red and Gold were favored.
