Twitter Increases Character Limit To 4,000 For ‘Twitter Blue’ Subscribers

After coming under Elon Musk’s wing, Twitter has seen a wild journey. Twitteratti is completely perplexed with everything, from paid blue ticks to suddenly having long-form content on the “micro-blogging” service. Musk on Wednesday raised the tweet character limit for Twitter Blue subscribers only to 4,000. As a result, users will now be able to upload information that is roughly 500 words long at a time. People on the platform were really upset after hearing this news.

A modified version of the original 140-character limit, the prior character limit for tweets was 280 characters. This modification was made back in 2017. There was no proof that the recent change in the character limit restriction was the cause of the glitches that began occurring on Twitter after the revision.

The longer tweets will now be shown in a similar way to the shorter ones under the new system, with a “show more” button for those who want to continue reading.

The platform explained in a statement, “[Twitter Blue users] can also compose longer Tweets in a Quote Tweet or reply. Standard functionality like posting media, creating polls, and using hashtags still apply. Everyone will be able to read longer Tweets, but only Blue subscribers can create them.”

After the change was revealed, Twitter descended into chaos. The new function caused a lot of people great distress. Many voiced objections to the change, and some people were just trolling.
