Twitter resumes paying Google Cloud, companies in talks for broader partnership

After a recent revelation that Twitter had outstanding bills with Google Cloud, a new report indicates that the company has now resumed payments to the search engine giant. The repayment is seen as an effort to mend the relationship that had become strained since Elon Musk took ownership of Twitter and ceased payment to Google and other companies, as stated in a Bloomberg report.

Multiple previous reports have highlighted that Twitter has allegedly failed to pay rent for its office spaces in London and San Francisco.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, reportedly played a significant role in repairing the relationship between Twitter and Google Cloud. The discussions between Yaccarino and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian included exploring a potential broader partnership involving advertising and Google’s use of Twitter’s API.

In recent news, Twitter is facing a lawsuit from its employees who claim that the company failed to pay millions of dollars in worker bonuses. Mark Schobinger, a former senior director of compensation at Twitter, filed a proposed class action alleging that the company did not fulfill its promise to pay employees 50% of their target bonuses for 2022. Twitter is also facing legal action related to severance payments, with some cases accusing the company of discriminatory layoffs targeting female employees and workers with disabilities.

Additionally, three former executives, including former CEO Parag Agrawal, are suing Twitter, claiming that the company failed to reimburse over $1 million in legal fees they incurred while responding to regulatory requests.

These legal challenges add to the financial and payment-related issues that Twitter has been dealing with, including previously reported unpaid rent and unpaid Google Cloud bills.
