Videocon Telecom, the youngest Telco in the country & the vibrant telecom arm of the Indian conglomerate Videocon Group has given its employees a big reason to smile. The Telco has announced best-in-industry increments going up to 38% for its employees in the current financial year, with the average fixed raise being 11% and rest coming in form of bonus which will be in addition to the Performance linked incentive (PLI). Here Videocon Telecom employees can earn up to 12 month basic and minimum 3 month basic salary as bonus.
This kind of employee increment is unheard of in the Telco industry, or that matter any industry. The announced increment structure will help building up an inherent performance culture in the organization, and encourage employees to give in their best to attain best in class increments. Today when employees are considered the life-blood of any organization, a favorable increment helps preserve focused talent, and motivates employee retention thus creating an inherent Human Resource value system for the organization.
The young Telco which made its comeback into the Telecom space earlier last year has a total employee strength of over 1300 employees across its 4 operational circles and Corporate office, and is strategically hiring professionals for its growing business operations including rollout of 2G services in 3 circles (UP-E, UP-W and Bihar/Jharkhand); and rollout of 4G services. The Telco also has plans to go to top Business Schools and Engineering Colleges including IIMs, ISB, S.P. Jain, XLRI, IITs amongst other leading institutes this year for campus placements to strengthen its employee eminence.
The Telco has achieved a score in the ‘High Performance Range’ in an Employee Opinion Survey, a part of the Aon Hewitt Best Employer Survey 2014, in which it had participated for the first time ever.
Videocon Telecom has recently inked a deal with Huawei for its 4G services rollout, and plans to hold the distinction of the first ever Telco to rollout 4G FDD services in the country on 1800 Mhz band. With this move, the Telco also aspires to become a PAN India player again, soon.
Mr. Arvind Bali, Director & CEO, Videocon Telecom commented, “I am a firm believer of the fact that it is the employees who make an organization, and to us, employee motivation and commitment are the top priorities and key levers of success. We are pleased to announce market leading pay raises for our employees and we are sure it will go long way in our success in the times to come. We obviously are looking at hiring and engaging the best talent and professionals across industries and would want to infuse some fresh blood into our organization. Unlike other Telcos, we are hiring, and hiring quite aggressively and strategically. We have lots in hand including rollout of 2G services in 3 circles including UP-E, UP-W and Bihar/Jharkhand and 4G services rollout, and we need the best professionals to meet these organizational goals.”
