The word-learning website Vocabulary.com on Monday has launched its Android app for devices running Android 4.1 or higher. Earlier the app made its debut on iOS 6.1 or higher devices, last month.
The Vocabulary.com’s Android app version 1.0.2 is available to download via Google Play at Rs. 181.67, and its iOS app (version 1.0.1) via the App Store at $2.99 (approximately Rs. 180).
The company says the app is powered by the world’s smartest, fastest dictionary which helps users master words through a fun and addictive game. It is said to help users improve their vocabulary skills similar to the Web-based and iOS versions of the app, where users can accumulate points, achievements and badges while competing with anyone around the world on daily and monthly leaderboards.
The Vocabulary.com app uses 120,000 questions that teach 12,000 words to users once they create an account. While answering, if users get one of the multiple-choice questions correct, they can swipe to the right for a context-based definition. If the answer is incorrect, the app asks them to try again.
With increased usage the Vocabulary.com app recognises what users know so far, and what they might need a little help with. The app takes the data over a period of time in-order to offer more words to learn. The company also says that it uses sophisticated algorithms to help you learn more effectively.
Vocabulary is commonly defined as “all the words known and used by a particular person”. With the Vocabulary.com’s app for both iOS and Android platform, now users can learn more with an addictive competitive element that it offers.
