WhatsApp has introduced a new update for beta testers, bringing significant changes to the app’s layout and user interface. The update presents a refreshed design that allows easy access to chats and other tabs from the main window. The latest beta version showcases the new appearance, featuring the Chats, Calls, Communities, and Status tabs at the bottom of the page, making it convenient for users with larger screens to navigate between tabs. This layout, already available to iOS users, will soon be accessible to WhatsApp beta users on Android.
However, it’s important to note that once the new look is rolled out to everyone, there will be no option to revert to the old design. The update is currently available in the latest beta version of the app, and as testing progresses smoothly, it is expected to be released in WhatsApp’s stable version in the future. The official release date for the stable version has not been disclosed by Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp.
In addition to the layout changes, WhatsApp has introduced new features, including Chat Lock and the Edit button. Chat Lock allows users to set a lock on their private chats, ensuring that no one can access them even if they have access to the phone. The Edit button enables users to make corrections to any erroneous messages they may have sent within a 15-minute window, eliminating the need to delete entire messages. This feature allows users to edit individual sentences or words, providing greater convenience and flexibility in communication.
