These buttons provide users with streamlined shortcuts to easily share images, videos, GIFs, and text as status updates with their contacts, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience.
In the previous design, WhatsApp featured two floating action buttons for content sharing on the status. However, as channels were integrated into the Updates tab, these floating buttons became less cohesive. With the inclusion of the camera and pencil icons into the status updates header, WhatsApp aims to provide users with a cleaner and more organized appearance.
The recent update follows WhatsApp’s introduction of the Channels Alerts feature for beta testers, which is now available for Android beta testers in version 2.23.26.6. This feature enhances the user experience for channel administrators by providing real-time updates on their channel’s status, particularly regarding any suspensions. Channel administrators can receive notifications about potential violations of WhatsApp’s policies and have the option to initiate a review of their suspension directly through the Channel Alerts screen.
