WhatsApp is developing a new filtering feature

WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a new filter feature to enhance the user experience. The upcoming feature allows users to filter and view status updates in a vertical list. According to WABetaInfo, the new functionality lets users filter and browse through status updates in a vertical list. The feature is currently available for Android beta testers, and users need to install the update version 2.23.24.11 to access it. This improvement is beneficial for users who aren’t following any channels, streamlining the task of accessing muted status updates without navigating to a distinct section through the three-dot menu.

The report also reveals that some beta testers may experiment with a new “See all” button to quickly view a vertical list of their status updates. In this section, some beta testers can access four filters that better categorize their status updates:

1. **All:** This filter displays all the status updates from contacts, allowing users to quickly catch up on everything without overlooking any updates.
2. **Recent:** This filter focuses on displaying the most recent status updates, making it advantageous for users who want to see the latest updates without scrolling through older posts.
3. **Viewed:** This filter showcases status updates that have already been viewed, helping users keep track of the content they have seen.
4. **Muted:** Specifically useful for managing and viewing muted status updates, this filter allows users to check muted updates without these posts dominating their recent status updates feed. It provides a more focused viewing experience by separating muted updates from the main feed.
