A recent report has unveiled another upcoming feature in WhatsApp, adding to the platform’s evolving capabilities. WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is expanding its offerings for desktop beta testers, specifically for Windows users. The new feature allows users to initiate chats with unknown phone numbers, making it easier to connect with people not in their contacts.
To access this feature, users can open the “New chat” screen, where they will now find an option labeled “Phone number.” This simplifies the process of starting conversations with individuals whose numbers are not in their address book. The “Phone number” entry point can also be used to search for phone numbers directly within the “New chat” screen, a functionality that was previously introduced in an earlier update.
This feature is a significant improvement, eliminating the need to clutter one’s contact list with unverified or temporary phone numbers. It provides a convenient way to initiate conversations with unknown contacts without the hassle of adding them to your contact list.
In addition to this, WhatsApp is also working on another feature that enables users to hide their locked chats. Currently, the entry point for accessing locked chats is always visible in the chat list when a protected conversation exists. With the new feature, users can conceal this entry point by entering a secret code in the search bar, providing an added layer of privacy for their conversations.
