The messaging capabilities of WhatsApp need not be described. Due to the support for connected devices and the millions of users they have worldwide, WhatsApp’s chat services are now more widely available than before. The calling features of the app, however, haven’t had the same accessibility. That might alter shortly.
According to a recent WABetaInfo report, a dedicated “Calls” tab may soon be added to WhatsApp’s desktop applications. The page will provide access to call logs as well as a simpler way to rapidly reach frequent contacts, much like the “Calls” tab does on the mobile app.
Calling support has been available on the desktop clients for some time, but there hasn’t been a specific tab like there is on the mobile apps. That is fixed by the new feature enhancement.
Users of WhatsApp for Desktop Beta who have updated to version 2.2240.1.0 should now have access to the “Calls” page. When the feature will be available to stable users is still uncertain. This could take a few days to several months.
In other news, the Communities feature has finally been supported by the WhatsApp mobile app. The organisational function makes announcements more convenient and allows administrators to manage various groups much more effectively.
