ITVoice News- A new octa-core Android smartphone has been launched in India, the Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth, priced at Rs. 8,490. The dual-SIM smartphone will be available for pre-order from Wickedleak’s website (where it is currently listed) from July 15.
While the Wammy Neo Youth runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box, Wickedleak says the phone will be upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat, though no exact timeline has been provided. It features a 5-inch HD (720×1280) IPS-LCD display with OGS.
The Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 SoC, coupled with a Mali 450 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone features 8GB of built-in storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).
The Wammy Neo Youth has a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with flash, and features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and hotspot functionality, GPS with A-GPS support, Micro-USB, FM radio, and Bluetooth 2.1.
Wickedleak’s Wammy Neo Youth is powered by a 2200mAh battery, and features dimensions of 141.5x71x7.7mm. The company is also touting support for multiple languages, namely English, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Deutsch, Espanol, French, Italiano, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Turkish, Russian, Bengali, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, India Urdu, Thai, and Simplified/Traditional Chinese. The smartphone will be available in Black and White colour variants.
As with other Wickedleak phones, the Wammy Neo Youth comes with optional AquaProtect water resistant coating. Wickedleak had back in May launched another octa-core Android smartphone in India, the Wickedleak Wammy Neo (Review | Pictures), priced at Rs. 11,990.
The Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth can be considered a budget version of the Wammy Neo, as it features nearly identical specifications, except 1GB of RAM compared to the Wammy Neo’s 2GB, and storage expandability up to 32GB instead of 64GB.
