ITVoice News:Start your countdown for 30 September as Windows 9 is arriving on this day from Microsoft. Internal sources from Microsoft have informed that the company is already planning to organise a large press meet to unveil the next version of Windows officially.
This new version has been codenamed as Threshold and a preview of Windows 9 is also in the pipeline during late September or early October. Key features of the operating system will be revealed at the event. The most exciting factor of the Windows 9 preview will be an early desktop version of Cortana. So far the virtual assistant has only been present on Windows Phone 8.1 handsets and some features were available on Bing too. Now Microsoft is integrating Cortana to PCs and they will also introduce a single Windows platform for all devices.
It’s also being suggested that Microsoft will bring back some features to make this new OS more vital for desktops. The Start menu will be re-introduced too. The Redmond company will also move quick access options to application title bars. It’s also supposed that Microsoft is implementing more-keyboard-and-mouse friendly experience for desktop users. They have been designing a combined version of Windows RT and Windows Phone operating systems. This hybrid platform is expected to be used in entertainment consumption-based tablets.
