Word Press introduces AI writing assistant, ‘Jetpack AI’

WordPress has recently introduced Jetpack AI, an AI writing assistant that will be integrated into the text editor of WordPress. Developed by Automattic, the main contributor to the open-source WordPress project, Jetpack AI utilizes generative AI technology to generate content based on user prompts, such as articles, lists, or tables. The AI assistant can adapt the tone of the post to match the desired message, ranging from informative to humorous or sarcastic.

The integration of Jetpack AI with word press and Jetpack-powered sites is seamless. Users can add an “AI Assistant” block to their content when creating a post or page. By typing in a prompt in natural language, the AI assistant will generate text accordingly. Besides generating content ideas, the assistant can create structured lists and tables within blog posts.

Jetpack AI offers language support for 12 languages, including Hindi, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Korean. This enables writers to create content in their native language and later translate it into multiple languages. The assistant also provides enhanced spelling and grammar correction features compared to the built-in tools in WordPress.

Automatic claims that the tool can fix spelling and grammar errors and facilitate translation between the supported languages. A free trial of the Jetpack AI Assistant block allows users to make up to 20 requests. However, to continue using the feature after the trial period, a monthly fee of $10 is required.

The capabilities of the Jetpack AI Assistant were demonstrated in tasks such as summarizing a blog post into a headline, modifying the text’s tone, and even creating an entire blog post based on a single prompt. For example, users can request the assistant to “Write a list of Tokyo’s must-visit destinations and provide me with a table displaying exchange rates from JPY to USD and Euro.”
