Recently, Xiaomi staged a significant event for the Redmi brand, introducing six new models. The Redmi K60 series, which consists of three new phones—a flagship Redmi K60 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a basic Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and a premium Redmi K60E with the new Dimensity 8200 chipset—was the highlight of the event.
Redmi K60 Pro
The top-tier Redmi K60 Pro has a 6.67″ AMOLED display with a supposedly 2K resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, which is the midpoint between QHD and Full HD. Promo pictures show that it can shine at 1,400 nits of brightness. The 16 MP selfie camera is located in the centre and has a single punch hole.
In addition to HDR10+, the panel supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and 480 Hz touch sampling rate. A fingerprint scanner is also present beneath the display. Redmi unveiled Auto Brightness 2.0, a system that adapts to the user’s preferences over time and provides the necessary brightness for each process.
Redmi executives took the stage with great pride to discuss the new camera. The 50 MP camera with a Sony IMX800 sensor, OIS, and EIS is the primary one on the back. The business boosted its own AI filters’ object recognition. Additionally, it stated that the quality and experience will be comparable to using a film camera, with obvious advantages in development and processing speed.
The other two cameras, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with a 118 degree field of view and a 2 MP macro sensor, are both standard-issue devices.
The Redmi K60 Pro uses Xiaomi’s proprietary Surge P1 charging chip, which was developed in-house. The processor manages the 5,000 mAh camera’s power distribution and ensures that the 120W fast charging protects the phone while it charges it from zero to one hundred percent in 19 minutes.
The wireless charging is now 30W, and Redmi also created a special charging station that enables the same speed. This is a significant increase. A VC cooling system with a total surface area of 5000 sq. mm is also included with the phone.
The Redmi K60 Pro comes in four colours: Champion Performance Edition, Green, White, and Black. The final one resembles the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team’s teal logo, but the partnership is definitely no longer in existence.
For the 8/128 GB memory variant, the price starts at CNY3,299 ($475/€455), and it rises to CNY4,599 ($660/€620) if the user chooses the 16/512 GB option. On December 31, Xiaomi China’s website will start taking orders.
Redmi K60
The Redmi K60 looks similar to its Pro sister. Three cameras, a 6.67″ AMOLED screen with 1440p resolution, and a cooling system covering 5,000 square millimetres are also present.
The camera is 64 MP with OIS, along with the identical 8 MP ultra-wide shooter and 2 MP macro sensor, and the rear design is the same. The same 16 MP selfie camera is located on the front.
The Redmi K60 has 30W wireless charging, much like the Pro. The battery is now 5,500 mAh, although the wired fast charging was reduced to 67W to allow for this 10% increase in capacity.
There are four colour options available for the Redmi K60: White, Green, Blue Leather, and Black with Carbon accents on the sides. The 8/128 GB version costs CNY2,499 ($360/€335), and the most powerful 16/512 GB version costs CNY3,599 ($515/€485). The Redmi K60 debuts on December 31 at Xiaomi’s Chinese online shop, much like the Pro did.
Redmi K60E
The Redmi K60E is the first device in the premium K series to include an E at the end. Although Xiaomi withheld the explanation for the letter, it is unquestionably an effective smartphone.
With the Mediatek chipset and the 6.67″ AMOLED display found in the other two Redmi K60 phones, Redmi maintained its position as a luxury brand. The distinction is that the brightness is “only” 1,200 nits and the bit depth is “just” 10-bit rather than 12-bit. On top, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus provides further protection.
OIS is also present in the primary camera on the rear, however this time it sports a 48 MP sensor. The other two cameras have 2 MP macro and 8 MP ultra-wide sensors. The Redmi K60E’s battery is identical as the Redmi K60’s with 5,500 mAh and 67W fast charging, but it lacks wireless charging.
Additionally, the phone’s storage was lowered from UFS 4.0 to UFS 3.1, and the RAM was marginally downgraded from LPDDR5X to LPPDR5.
Redmi K60E will be offered for purchase in White, Black, and Green, with prices for 8/128 GB starting at CNY2,199 ($315/€295). Major third-party merchants and Xiaomi China’s website already sell it.
