Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 confirmed to launch in August

The market for foldable phones is expected to experience growth in the coming years, with various tech companies like Samsung, Oppo, Google, Motorola, and others focusing on this technology. Xiaomi has also confirmed that it will be launching its next-generation foldable device, called the Mix Fold, in August this year.

Lu Weibing, the general manager of Redmi in China, shared the launch timeline of the Mix Fold 3 in a post on Weibo. Xiaomi claims that this foldable phone will be one of the most feature-packed devices in its category, primarily due to its impressive camera setup.

Reports suggest that the primary camera of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will feature the Sony IMX 989 sensor, which is similar to the main camera sensor found in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Additionally, the auxiliary cameras of the Mix Fold 3 will also utilize the same sensors as the ones used in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

The camera configuration of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is expected to include a 50MP Sony IMX 858 sensor for the ultrawide angle camera, a telephoto camera, and a periscope telephoto camera. This camera setup is identical to that of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, as all the auxiliary cameras in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra also feature the Sony IMX 858 sensor.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be the successor to the Xiaomi Mix Fold, which was launched in China last year. The Mix Fold 2 features an 8.2-inch Samsung Eco screen with a resolution of 2160×1914 pixels. When folded, it provides access to a 6.56-inch Samsung AMOLED E5 display with a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM. It runs on the MIUI Fold 13, based on the Android 12 operating system.
